The Linking Indicator is a colored round light on the Instant Text title bar.
It indicates whether Instant Text is linked to the current client application.
It is a client context sensitive indicator that gets refreshed every time you switch to a new window.
A round red light is displayed when Instant Text is not linked to the current client application.
Instant Text is not linked when you have configured the current client application not to use Instant Text.
A round green light is displayed when Instant Text is linked to the current client application.
When linked, Instant Text will listen to keystrokes and display expansions in the Expansion Tables.
A round orange light is displayed when Instant Text is
linked
to the
current client application,
but the link is currently
suspended.
When the linking is suspended, the Expansion Tables will remain empty.
Unless you have configured the current client application not to use Instant Text, it is possible to toggle the linking back and forth, between on and suspended.
When the linking is suspended, Instant Text will only react to a Toggle Linking hotkey or a Toggle Focus hotkey. Assuming you are using the Ctrl / Toggle Focus hotkey, you can toggle the linking using the Ctrl /L keyboard shortcut.
