1) You probably mean Alt =.
Please make sure that the Alt = hotkey is defined in your Hotkey glossary.
You can view your Hotkey glossary by right-clicking the Glossary List and selecting View Hotkey Glossary.

Also make sure that your Hotkey glossary is activated. If the Glossary Menu displays an Activate Hotkey Glossary item, please select it. If it proposes Deactivate Hotkey Glossary it means it is already activated and you can exit the menu using Escape.

2)You need to uncheck Smart Cut and Paste in Word.
