Command Text Play Text...

The PlayText command produces the specified text by producing the characters one by one.

When selecting the Play Text... menu item, the following dialog

invites you to type the text you want to play.

Instant Text has several methods to produce text.

The two methods that are the most widely used and you should know about are:

• The PlayText command, which simulates keystrokes one by one just as if you would type them.
• The PasteText command, which copies the text to produce to the clipboard and requests it to be pasted.

The following three entries displayed in the table below, all produce the word consideration:

• The first entry lets Instant Text choose the method to produce the word consideration: the chosen method may depend on the current Client Context. In most cases, Instant Text will internally use PlayText to produce the text. But it may also decide to go for PasteText if the length of the text to expand exceeds the clipboard threshold.
• The second entry requests that the word consideration be produced using the PlayText command.
• The third entry requests that the word consideration be produced using the PasteText command.

Basically you will very rarely use the PlayText command. But if for example, for one reason or another, you want to make sure your expansion is NOT produced using the clipboard, the PlayText command is the way to go.
