Numbering sequence changes between my copy and employer's print out

After I've typed a list, each time selecting "start new list", the numbering sequence is correct in my copy, but when my employer prints it out, sometimes the numbers will appear as if I selected "resume list." I make sure that the codes correctly indicate that I have selected "start new list."

I use WP 9 and my employer uses WP 8. Could account for it? If so, is there a way to work around this?
