Welcome to the Instant Text 9 Forum, Marsha. We will be happy to offer you all the help we can with Instant Text 9.
One of our goals in Instant Text 9 was to reduce the learning curve for beginners by simplifying the basic Options menu and still offering the unique advantages:

Not having to memorize each and every short form

Having IT (AI!) do the job of adding the most frequently used words and phrases to a glossary

Having continuations finish the sentences we start typing

More than 10 years ago, in version 7, we started to develop a Command menu to help facilitate the editing work our users were getting more and more into. You will find many posts about this topic on our Instant Text 7 Forum:

The Command menu in IT9 has been widely developed and reached quite a sophisticated level which you are right to find complex. Maybe we can start an ongoing exchange on this forum to see in detail how these commands work.
