Phrase marker not working correctly

I have \ set as the phrase marker. I have 4 and 6 digit dates in my glossary, ie 0101 = 01 January and 010100 = 01 January 2000. The marker key does not work at all with these. Attempting to use one will result in ie "0101\".

Continuations also do not work. "ihto" will correctly expand into "I had the opportunity", but while "to evaluate" shows up in the phrase field as a continuation, using the marker key just types \.
