Version 8.50

We are very happy to introduce Instant Text version 8.50 and encourage you to download and install it.

The installation process is quick and straightforward:

  1. You download the latest installer (the URL is always the same).
  2. You run it and answer Yes or OK to all questions.

It takes very little time. Your settings and glossaries stay unchanged.
The installer just updates the IT8Pro exe.

Toggling the Prime Glossary

The Prime Glossary is such a convenient place for the glossary entries that you want always accessible. The fact that it gets automatically included in any expansion glossary takes care of that.

Sometimes though, especially in the Glossary Viewer, you may want to view a glossary without showing the included prime entries. You can now very easily do so by temporarily deactivating the Prime glossary.

No Spacing Directive after Command Not Needed Anymore

Automatic spacing is no longer applied when an expansion ends with a command.

Snippet Loop Command

Repeating an expansion has never been simpler! It is the newly introduced Snippet Loop command that makes it really easy.

Rather than creating several delete previous words expansions (del-prev-word, del-prev-2-words, del-prev-3-words, etc), the following post shows you how to repeat the deletion of the previous word with a single expansion using the SnippetLoop command.

New Snippets Glossary with More than 200 Ready to Use Snippets

Snippets are so convenient for reusing expansion fragments that you reference in multiple other expansions.

You may download our revised version of Commands.xglo and copy it to your InstantTextEXP\Glossary\#Snippets folder. It contains more than 200 snippets with universal expansions that you can easily reference in your own expansions using the Snippet command.

Note: Reinstalling Instant Text will not update your Commands.xglo glossary, as we never overwrite already existing glossaries when updating an existing installation.

Glossary Colors

If you are already coloring your included glossaries, you are likely to enjoy the new Pick Include Color dialog.

Moreover, the Glossary Viewer Colors dialog now lets you even change:

  • the Shell Color, i.e. the background color that is used to display shell entries.
  • The default Include Color, i.e. the color assigned to an include at the time it is added.
  • The #Shields Color, i.e. the background color that is used to display all entries which stem from the Shield Glossary Shell.
  • The #Prime Color, i.e. the background color that is used to display all entries which stem from the Prime Glossary Shell.
